Traditional
Upholstery of Period and Antique Furniture by
Italian set of 6 guilt wood open arm chairs with shaped upholstered back,
upholstered seat and arm pads, serpentine seat on cabriole legs. Restored
and re-upholstered for a museum in Manchester. The frames were so old that
staples had to be used in place of tacks to reduce damage to the frames and
guilt.
Seat completely padded with best quality horse hair, no
springs. Scrim over the hair and calico lined throughout. Scrim on seat
and hand stitched to give shaped edge.
Layer of hair over Hessian, then wadding and calico.
Completed calico lining.
Top layer fabric blue silk with colour matched trimming.
